The whole point of taking a photos is to show “somebody” the pictures
and those “somebodies” will actually be different sets of people at different times in your life. So what’s the best way to display?
Well… that depends. For weddings, the “somebody” normally means your peers and maybe your parents today; some fashion shots and a few formals for Mom & Dad might just be plenty.
In 20 years tough, that “somebody” will be you and your children. When you show your children your wedding photos (or your grandparent’s 50th anniversary) you are showing them more than a great looking couple at a big party; your passing on your dreams, your family history and your traditions. When you look back in 20 years each detail will bring back it’s own memory and it’s own emotion.
More photos, mean more details, which means more memories; its that simple and that important. A collection of images in “Story Book” form works nicely for this purpose.
Good portraits are almost never unplanned. A wall portrait is typically designed to capture the essence of one subject, emotion or time. Portraits can illustrate a subject’s style, manner, growth or interest. Portraits can hint at a story by leaving you with a question. Portraits are also always visible.
My point here is to get you thinking.
